This is an authentic piece of colonial currency from the 1700's. These early U.S. currency pieces from the colonies that would make up our states are a true piece of history. This one was issued the Maryland colony. It is clearly dated in from March 1st 1770. This one was worth the amount of 1/6 of a dollar and notes that the exchange rate was four shillings and Six pence per dollar. Yes that's right at that time currency was still figured in English or Spanish values. On the right hand side of the note it has the image of the seal of Maryland. On the back of the note it has been backed with apiece of blank paper to preserve it. It also has the amount of value and the printer's name. The note was printed by A.C. & W. Green of Annapolis. The note measures approximately 4-1/2 inches by 2-1/2 inches in overall size. The note is in very attractive circulated condition. It has been graded by the PMG Grading Service and is rated by them as a "FINE" note with repaired tears. It comes in their acid-free holder for preservation and display.
