This is an authentic Y style gun tool for the Austrian pattern military rifle. These model 1857 Austrian style muskets were used by both sides of the Civil War. This is the style that is illustrated on page #210 of the gun tool book by Shaffer, Rutledge & Dorsey. It has the nipple wrench on one side with the screwdriver tool on another and the punch tool on the last side. The piece spent 100 years in the ground and is priced accordingly. Otherwise it is in nice excavated condition as you can see. The verbal history that accompanied this piece is that it was recovered years ago on private property near the battle of Spanish Fort, Alabama which is just outside of Mobile, Alabama. This is a perfect piece of Civil War history that is still affordable. This is a nice piece to have with your Austrian Gun.'
