Here is a great looking button! This is the button that was worn by the soldiers from the State of Maine. It is the pattern that was listed as figure ME4 in Albert's button book and as an unlisted version of ME100b in Tice's button book, both of which we sell. The face of the button has the large star design. Around the edge of the button it has 17 stars on an lined background. These are one piece buttons and this one is in excellent shape with the original shank nicely intact on the reverse. You can also read the fine backmark of "TREBLE GILT LONDON". The Treble Gilt mark with the fancy letters is listed as a cuff version in the book but he doesn't have this style listed in the coats. This is a great looking specimen all the way around.
