Click on an image to enlarge
This is a very nice original classic Civil War Navy coat button. It has the eagle perched on the anchor below her talons on the front. The edge of the button has nice clear stars. It has the lined background to make the detail stand out better. The button face has a fine amount of the factory gold gilding remaining. There is one small pinhole that is at the top of the anchor that is mentioned for exactness. The original back and shank are intact with the RMDC backmark of the firm of Scovills & Company of Waterbury, Connecticut. This is the style listed in Albert's button book as NA106 and in Tice's button book as NA212a15. This is a wonderful looking Civil War navy coat button.
