Very Large Bartram & Company Maker Marked Civil War Era Powder Flask
Click on an image to enlarge
This is an attractive original Civil War era powder flask. This one is marked on the top of the spout by the maker "BARTRAM & Co." on one side and the other is "NIMROD". Bartram was from London, England and held an English powder flask patent dated February 3rd 1865. The body has the leaf design scenes on each side and displays well. The seams are solid but has been repaired long ago as you see in the images. The flask stands about 10-1/2 inches tall and is about 4-3/4ths inches across. This one is the very large size that would have been used with a large rifle or musket. There is a picture to show how large it is compared to a standard pistol size flask. The spout is present but the spring is broken. It is a cool BIG flask that has a very attractive overall look!
