Here is your chance to own a very scarce note from the Civil War. This is a $.25 note issued by the US Army Life Insurance Company of Baltimore, Maryland. This extremely scarce note has the hand written date of 1862 along the bottom. It states that "US Army Life Insurance Company Baltimore pay bearer twenty five cents in current funds when like checks are presented to amount of one or more dollars." It is signed by the treasurer along the bottom right hand corner and has the serial number of 919. Information on this note is quite tough to come by but we did find one reference with an example being in the Maryland Historical Society. The note itself measures 3-1/8th inches wide and is an 1-3/4th inches tall. It is printed with the green color ink and has the signatures and date written in using fine old Brown ink. The note is blank on the reverse which is referred to by collectors as the note being "Uniface." The note has a tear that goes a little over 1/2 way across the center of the note and it is priced accordingly. This is an extremely scarce note so don't miss your opportunity.
