D. Evans Made Civil War Era Police Button From Portland Maine
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a cool looking button. This is the Civil War era coat size uniform button that was worn by the Portland Maine police department. It has the seal in the center with the "PORTLAND" across the top and along the bottom "POLICE". The face of the button is pushed but still displays beautifully. It still has a fine amount of the gold gilding. The original back and shank are intact with the Civil War maker marking of the Attleboro, Massachusetts firm of D. Evans. This is a cool button.
