Non-Excavated Civil War Era Union Buttons From Massachusetts
Buttons
Civil War Era Boston Massachusetts Police Coat Button by D. Evans
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a cool button and is the first one we have been able to offer. This one is the coat size button that was worn by an officer service with the Boston Police Department. The gold gilded face proudly reads "BOSTON POLICE" in the center. The button is in excellent non-excavated condition. It has the original back and shank intact. You can still clearly see the "D. EVANS & CO. ATTLEBORO MASS" maker's marking. On page 21 of Tice's button book it shows that this backmark will date from 1850 until 1865. What a great button!
