HOMESTEAD! 6th Plate Tintype of a Country Home in a Gutta Percha Case

This is a great image. It is a 6th plate tintype of a beautiful antebellum style farmhouse. It has the fence in front of the house. The house itself has the chimneys on each side. The image is beauful and clear. The image is encased in an original octagonal image case that was designed to hold an image. These are the style case that are made of a thermoplastic material that is better known as a "Gutta Percha" case. They are high quality cases that held the best images of the Civil War era. It still has the maker's marking from the Littlefield & Parsons Company as well as the notation that it is a "UNION CASE". This one is the size known to collectors as the sixth plate image. This the size that sixth plate tintype size measures approximately 3.25 by 2.75 inches in overall size. The case alone is worth well over $100 these days. This is a great image for your collection with some cool content. '
