13th Mass. Infantry 1861 Dated Scott's Infantry Tactics Vol. #2 with Pull-Out Diagrams
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is an original 1861 dated copy of the Infantry tactics manual by General Winfield Scott. This is volume 2 of the 3 book set. It has a nice lithograph eagle on the inside cover and was printed by Harpers & Brother of New York. It is in worn condition but appears to be complete and even has the pull out diagrams on the inside. One neat thing about this book is on the inside cover it has the inscription "W.L.C. CoI. 13Rgt.". The records show that "W.L.C." of the 13th Regiment would be William L. Clark of the 13th Massachusetts Infantry. He served in Company "H" instead of "I". He enlisted on July 16th 1861 and served until he resigned on July 24th 1862. During this time the regiment was at Cedar Mountain, Thoroughfare Gap and South Mountain. A printout of Clark's service as well as that of the 13th Massachusetts will accompany the book.
