Beautiful Green & Black Ink South Carolina $10 from Cheraw, South Carolina

This is a nice displaying original pre-Civil War piece of currency from the state of South Carolina. It is an original 1857 dated $10 note from the Merchants' Bank of the South Carolina. It is hand signed and numbered as it should be with this style of note. In the lower right hand side of the note has the hand written date of issuance of August 9th 1857. The scene in the center shows Lady Liberty. It has the sailor in the lower right and the other side has the John C. Calhoun Image. The black and green tones of the ink make this a beautiful note all the way around. The overall size of this note is 6-3/8ths inches by 3-1/4ths inches. This note is in attractive circulated condition. It comes in an acid free holder for preservation and display.
