Finely Crafted Woven Hair Mourning Necklace Jewelry with Gold Accents
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a great piece of Victorian history! This is a Civil War era piece of jewelry. These are often referred to as being a piece of mourning jewelry. This necklace is a small size, likely for a child and measures 10 inches in length. The body of the necklace is made of finely woven human hair. As odd as it seems, these hair jewelry pieces were quite popular during the Civil War era. The piece has the gold tone ends on the ends with the gold section in the center. It has a loop where it could have had a fob at one time. This is a great little piece.
