This is a great looking piece of history from the Grand Army of the Republic. The Grand Army of the Republic or G.A.R. was the organization made up of Union Survivors of the Civil War. They held reunion and erected monuments to the men that fought for the north during the Civil War. This medal was to commemorate the 1910 reunion of the G.A.R. that was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The top bar has the souvenir designation. The lower medallion has the soldier and tent design on the front. On the back it has the Atlantic City reunion location and the notation that it was the 44th National Encampment. The original pin is on the reverse of the top bar but the clasp portion is missing. The ribbon displays well with some wear. This is an excellent medal for any collection.
