WONDERFUL! Double Barrel Knife Pistol by DuMonthier with Original Sheath
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is one of the coolest guns you will ever get a chance to own. It is an original double barrel pistol with a fierce knife blade between them. The piece measures approximately 13-inches overall with a 8 1/4-inch spearpoint blade. Each of the barrels are approximately .38 caliber smoothbores with 3 1/4-inch long barrels. The mechanics of the gun are quite interesting as well. You are to cock back the hammers and there is only a single folding trigger. The trigger is pulled and that releases the right hand hammer. The trigger stays out and when it is pulled again it releases the left hand side hammer. Then the trigger goes back into the handle. Along the base of the blade it is maker marked "DUMONTHIER" on the reverse above the barrels and "BREVET XXX" under the barrels. The hammer are serving double duty as the upper quillon of the crossguard of the handle serve as hammers for the percussion ignition barrels. The handle of the gun is made of fluted German silver which gives it a gorgeous appearance. The gun is beautifully encased in the original custom made German silver mounted leather covered tin scabbard. On the top mount of the scabbard it still has the original silver button for attachment to the belt. This is an exceptional piece that is worthy of a museum display!
