Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a beautiful piece! This is an original uncut sheet of bank notes from the Newton, New Jersey, Sussex Bank. The Sussex Bank opened in 1818 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the Sussex National Bank of Newton. There are three $1.00 notes and one $2.00 note. The $2.00 design depicts a farmer enjoying a lunch break with his children and the $1.00 note design shows the hoses pulling the hay wagon. Each note has the smaller vignettes. On the $2.00 it has at bottom center and lower right show a dog resting and a girl shading her eyes. On the back of each note there are the large red ink "ONE" and "TWO" protector to help prevent counterfeiting. The overall size of the sheet measures 8-3/4ths inches by 13-1/2 inches in size. What a beautiful uncut sheet of notes from the Garden State!
