Authentic CDV Images of Confederate Soldiers & Personalities
Excellent CDV of Confederate General Richard Taylor With Baton Rouge Backmark

Here is a fine original CDV image of Confederate General Richard Taylor (1826-1879). The image shows the knee up view of Taylor in his Confederate uniform. He was the son of President Zachary Taylor. Taylor was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 27th 1826. He served as his father's military secretary during the Mexican War. He commanded the 9th Louisiana Infantry early in the war. He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General on October 21st 1861 and on July 28th 1862 he received the promotion to the rank of Major General. He died on April 12th 1879 and is buried in Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans. These CDV images measure approximately 2 1/2 inches wide and are 4 inches tall. On the back of this card it has the desirable photographer marking of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana firm of A.D. Lytle. This is a tough to find image of a Confederate General.
