Click on an image to enlarge
This is a nice original matching pair of non-excavated Civil War regulation pattern cavalry spurs. This is the EXACT set of spur that is pictured and described on page 94 of the fine spur book by Dr. Bob Baird entitled Confederate, US and Other Civil War Used Spurs. This is the classic U.S. Model 1859 style that was worn by the Civil War cavalrymen. They are made of cast brass and is the pattern with the unadorned base of the rowel neck. They each have the neck still present and both of them even has the original iron rowel sill nicely intact. Each spur still has been nickel plated to a bright shine all over with a very pleasing look. He notes in the book that they "...were likely used for reunions or parades after the War." This is a great looking matching set of spurs for your relic room.
