In my 30 years in the business, this is the first one of these that I have been able to offer. This version of Confederate bond/stock certificate is listed as Ball 211 on page 180 of, Comprehensive Catalog and History of Confederate Bonds Second Edition by Douglas B. Ball and Henry F. Simmons, Jr. This bond is preprinted by Evans & Cogswell Company in Columbia South Carolina. This pattern of bond is comprised of hand-written amounts. This is serial number 500 and the penned denomination is $5,000, both of which are written in ink. It is hand dated from April 3rd 1863 and is made out to R.F. Reynolds. The bond measures 13 inches by 8-1/2 inches in size. It has the image of "Science" at the top center of the bond. On the back of the bond, it has the red ink print that is filled in in brown ink. This is where the bond could be signed over to someone else. This is a great looking Confederate $5,000 bond.
