Here is a very attractive looking gun! It is an original .36 caliber revolver from the famous Colt firearms Company. This has the Sam Colt maker mark across the top of the barrel to go along with the ' New York City location. New York was the location of the Colt office with the actual production of the gun taking place in Hartford, Connecticut. The barrel is full-length at 7-1/2 inches in length. The front sight is the long pattern silver blade sight. It fires the standard six shots and is of the model 1851 design. It has all matching serial numbers of 69,469, including the wedge, which would have been made in 1857. This is the early production that has the smaller size triggerguard. The action of the gun works smoothly on all positions. The body of the cylinder still retains a fine amount of the original naval battle scene that was rolled onto the metal at the Colt factory. It depicts the naval battle between the Texas Navy and the Mexican Navy in 1843. You can see the serial number quite well on the cylinder. On the handle of the gun are the original 1-piece walnut grips. This is a nice and solid original .36 caliber Colt revolver with a good early production date.
