This is an original Civil War soldier's image and is a tough to find version. This is a quarter plate tintype of a wartime private wearing the classic fighting man's uniform. He has on the shell style jacket with the shoulder scales still partially visible. On the table by his side he has the forage style military cap. He has his saber in his hand and beside of that, he has the Sheffield style knife tucked behind the belt. Tucked on the other side, he has the classic Colt 1851 .31 caliber "Navy" revolver. Around his waist you can see the eagle from the sword belt and he has his pocket watch behind the buckle. His hat has crossed sabers under the letter "M" over a 2. This is presumably the 2nd US Cavalry, originally the 2nd US Dragoons, who were part of the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War, earning 24 battle streamers. These are quite scarce and this one is very visible with the toning from age. The image comes in a beautiful original complete thermoplastic gutta percha case. This is a tough to find image of a triple armed Civil War soldier. What a cool image!
