Excellent .42 Caliber Forehand & Wadsworth Cartridge
Click on an image to enlarge

Here is a very nice cartridge. It is the short pattern cartridge for the .42 caliber Allen drop breech rifle which are often marked Forehand & Wadsworth. These guns were made from 1860 to 1871 according to Flayderman's guide. This is the pattern that is illustrated on page 68 of the cartridge book by Logan. This Cartridge is in excellent non-excavated condition and displays well as you can see. This is a fine non-excavated piece of firearms history.
