Here is a fine original non-excavated coat size button for the state of Missouri. It has the state seal on the front with nice detail. The seal depicts a split shield with the Union eagle on one side and the state moon and cow on the other. This shows that they have separate functions but are still united. It has the two grizzly bears supporting the center shield showing that Missouri supports both governments. The face of the button has an excellent amount of the gold gilt intact and has a fine look. The back and shank are intact with the correct Civil War Waterbury Button Company maker's mark backmark. This is the version listed as figure MO2 in Albert's button book and MO205c1 in Tice's button book, both of which we sell if you need one. This is a great looking non-excavated Civil War Civil War Missouri coat button.
