Here is a wonderful piece of reunion history from the union side of the Civil War. This is one of the 5 piece veterans badge is referred to by collectors as the "ladder" badge. They get their nickname because when the veteran ordered the badge, he could have his many rungs added to the ladder as he wanted to pay for. This ladder badge has the five rungs and the corps badge hanging below the rungs. It states that the soldier was in company "B" of the 29th Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteer Infantry. It even has the small Pennsylvania Keystone piece hanging from the bottom wrung of the ladder. The records show that the 29th Pennsylvania had a very broad battle history. They were at Winchester, Cedar Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Then Lookout Mountain, Ringold and all through the Atlanta Campaign. The badge is in excellent condition and even has the original pin intact on the reverse. The badge is accompanied by a brief printout of the Civil War service history of the 29th Pennsylvania infantry. The piece measures 3-3/4ths inches by 2 inches in overall size.
