They were worn by soldiers during the outbreak of the Civil War. This pattern of military hat is made of tarred leather this one displays well from all angles. It stands about 6 inches tall to the top of the crown. The original brim is present and is in fine shape as you can see in the pictures. On the front of the hat it has the beautiful eagle shako style hat plate that has a pretty eye appeal. Above the eagle plate it has the green and white pom pom plume coming out of the top. When you look on the inside of the hat it has the original sweat band and the rest of the inside is in fine shape as you can see. It has the original metal vents on the sides intact.
