Fine Autograph of Confederate General F.M. Cockrell of Missouri

Here is a very fine original authentic signature of Civil War Confederate General Francis M. Cockrell. Cockrell was born in Johnson County, Missouri and was named after the famous Revolutionary War here, Francis Marion. He enlisted as a private and rose to the rank of Brigadier General. HE WAS WOUNDED A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES! Cockrell was from the state of Missouri and during the Civil War he fought at the battles of Iuka, Corinth, Grand Gulf, , Champion's Hill, Wilson's Creek, Elkhorn & Carthage all the way through Vicksburg and Atlanta. Cockrell was in charge of Fort Hill in Vicksburg during the valiant defense of the city during the siege by U.S. Grant. On November 30th 1864 he entered the fierce fighting at Franklin, Tennessee where he was severely wounded three times. He survived the Civil War and was elected to the Senate from Missouri in 1874 and served the state for 30 years. Cockrell dies in Washington on December 13th 1915. The autograph is accompanied by a printed biography of his
service as well as a modern Xerox image of the General. The paper that the
autograph was trimmed out of letter and the paper measures 5-3/4ths inches by 1-1/2 inches in overall size. It is a fine piece of
history!
