Confederate General Alfred Colquitt of Georgia Autograph

Here is a fine original ink autograph of Confederate General Alfred Holt Colquitt (1824 - 1894). The General was born on April 20th 1824 and graduated from Princeton in 1844. He practiced law before the War and in 1852 was elected to the U.S. Congress. In May of 1861 he was elected Colonel of the 6th Georgia Infantry. On September 1st 1862 he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. In 1876 he was elected Governor of Georgia. He died on March 26th 1894 and is buried in Macon, Georgia. The autograph is accompanied by a printed biography of his
service as well as a modern Xerox image of the General. The paper that the
autograph is on is trimmed from an 1875 dated insurance company paper. The paper measures 7 inches by 9 inches in overall size. It is a fine piece of
history!
