Click on an image to enlarge
This is a beautifully designed and scarce authentic Confederate States of America $10.00 piece of currency. In the center of the note it has the image of the Indian family scene. This note has always been a collector favorite because of the orange and black ink combination. On the right hand side it has the image of the maiden holding an ear of corn in one hand and the roman number "X" in the other. On the left hand side is the likeness of the goddess Thetis with the scepter of Neptune, which represents sovereignty of the sea. It was issued on September 2nd 1861 from Richmond and that part is clearly printed on the front. This is the version listed as T-22 in Criswell's Confederate Currency book. It is correctly hand signed and numbered in ink. In the lower left hand corner it has the printer's mark of the Southern Bank Note Company. All of their production notes are very tough to find and are among some of the most beautiful ones ever produced by the Confederacy. It is well worn but still displays well and has the large circular hole where the note was taken out of circulation by the Confederate Government. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
