Click on an image to enlarge
This is a great looking early straight bladed infantry sword! It is an original example of the highly collectible "Pillow" pommel military sword. These pillow pommel swords were very popular from the war of 1812 era until the 1830's. This one has the nicely styled pommel and it is made of gold gilded brass with nice a great look. The entire brass hand guard is present and it has a superb look as it still retains most of the original silver wash form the factory. This is the pattern known to collectors as the "Five Ball" guard for obvious reasons. The original handle is present and has a very pleasing look to reeded wood handle grip. It has a brilliant deep tone to the wood. The double edged blade is full-length at 30 inches. This is a fine early sword all the way around. Don't miss this one.
