Here is an interesting piece of Civil War medical history. This is the medical item of the style that was illustrated on Page 71 of the Pictorial Encyclopedia of Civil War Medical Instruments and Equipment book by Dr. Gordon Dammann. It is a suppository maker that is made out of brass. It makes 12 suppositories at a time. It has the main section with the sides that swing out for releasing the suppositories. On the one side it has the brass lever that holds it shut while casting. The overall size of the piece is 5-3/4ths inches by 1 inch by 1 inch in size. It has some markings on the bottom of the brass. A neat piece of history!
