This is a nice displaying original of an Austro-Hungarian Cavalry Trooper's Sword, Model 1867. It is mounted with a large slightly curved, wide blade that measures 34 inches in length by 1 3/8 inches wide at the ricasso. The blade remains in very nice condition with only some minor surface stains and is well marked on either side of the ricasso. It has the maker marking of "GERB. WEYERSBERG" which is that of Weyersberg Brothers of Solingen. It also has the crown stamp and the initial of "W". It also has the "76" which one would assume is the production datemarking of 1876. The metal parts of the sword have a wonderful ancient attic tone all over. The sword has a large, narrow basket hilt which is pierced with seven symmetrical holes that remains in nice condition as well with only minor staining. The grip of the sword has the wooden core with some of the original leather remaining. The heavy metal scabbard remains in very good serviceable condition. It has the mounts, throat and drag intact. This is a good looking sword and scabbard from the 1870's.
