17th British Light Dragoons Marked 1796 Pattern Flintlock Pistol

Here is a neat gun with a cool ancient look! This is the military flintlock that is known as the British pattern 1796 dragoon pistol. These British heavy dragoon pistols date to the Napoleonic Wars 1792-1815. They fire a massive round ball bullet of .71 caliber in size. This one stands out because the trigger guard is engraved "17-LD/B/52" indicating that it was issued to the 17th Light Dragoons, B Company, Soldier #52. The 17th served in Ireland, the West Indies & South America after the Yorktown defeat during the American Revolution. This one is designed with the 9-1/8th inch round barrel that is still full-length. On the top of the barrel it has the two British proofs where it was approved for military service. On the lockplate, forward of hammer, it has crown over "GR" marking. Behind the hammer, it has the marking of the famous "TOWER" arsenal. The gun is fitted with the original round butt walnut stock with a classic attic tone. These guns have the brass trigger guard, sideplate, thimble & single pipe. In the channel under the barrel, it has the button tipped iron ramrod. You can tell that this one was used and I love the flavor it has. It has had a couple of cracks filled in and now it displays beautifully. What a gun that is over 200 years old!
