Beautiful Cased Set of Post Civil War Naval Officer Epaulets
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a wonderful cased pair of officer shoulder epaulets in the original case. The epaulets are the high grade style that those sold by the high end firms for naval officers. On the top they have the buttons with the U.S. Navy eagle on them on the end of the epaulet. The buttons have the design with the eagle that has the anchor in front of the eagle's wing. This and the overall design let us know that these would have been made after the Civil War. Probably 1880 or later. They have the gorgeous golden color brass bullion on the edges and the bullion appears to be 100% complete. The box is in nice shape with traces of the original black color on the outside. The closure tab is present as is the handle on the top. This is a great set of post-Civil War navy officer's epaulets and straps that any collector would appreciate.
