This is a beautiful original non-excavated Confederate manufactured coat size uniform button from the state of Louisiana. The front of the button has the mother pelican feeding her young, which is the state seal of the great state of Louisiana. The face has a nice golden tone to the brass with a clear pelican. There is a some of the original gold wash remaining in the recesses of the button that gives it a great look and makes the detail stand out. These are listed as LA8 in Albert's button book. It is purely Confederate in use and manufacture. The original back and shank are present as well. This is an absolutely beautiful of the Confederate made Civil War Louisiana coat button.
