This is an original model 1874 pattern cavalry bridle bit. This is the pattern known to collectors as the "Shoemaker" bit. They are very distinctive because of the large circular strap loop ends. The rest of the body looks very similar to the standard Civil War production bit. This one is 100% complete and has both of the bridle rosettes intact. On the end of the bit it has had the crossbar removed but it still has both of the rings intact. This is a very tough to find bit to start with and this one is in nice shape.
