Here is a cool looking English pattern officer's sword that would date from the 1770s to 1780s. This is the pattern that is known as a "Spadroon". A spadroon is a light sword with a straight-edged blade, enabling both cut and thrust attacks. This one is produced with a steel hilt crafted with an open counterguard. At the top of the sword, it has the large bulbous pommel cap. The handle of the sword has the rewrapped light colored grip with the double twist wire wrapping going around it. It has the full-length steel blade with a single fuller that runs the length of the blade. The blade measures 32 inches in length. This is a neat looking original Revolutionary War era officer's sword!
