CDV Image of U.S. Grant "OUR AFFLICTED HERO" From His Last Days

This is an original Civil War era CDV image of Civil War General U.S. Grant. It is a bust view of the general in a stately pose with the heavy beard. The image shows the general in his fine suit of clothes. It has the image of President U.S. Grant and above his likeness it has the "Our Afflicted Hero." wording. Along its bottom left edge it reads: Compliments of Union Pacific Tea Co. Beneath his image is his printed signature. In March of 1885 the New York Times newspaper announced that Grant was dying of cancer and he died 4 months later. This would likely be from that timeframe. The card measures 2-1/2 inches by 4 inches in overall size. This is a solid original CDV image of U.S. Grant.
