Very Cool Allen Patent Single Shot With Huge 8 Inch Long Barrel!

This is a nice original single shot pistol made by the famous firm of Allen & Wheelock of Worcester, Massachusetts. It has the stamped maker mark on the flat top of the part round, part octagonal barrel. The barrel is the very long pattern with the 8 inch length. This is more than double the length of the standard Allen style pistol barrel. I guess if you couldn't shoot the enemy you could poke his eye out with this huge barrel. The action work well in both positions. It has the assembly number of "495" on the underside of the barrel just in front of the triggerguard. The mechanics catch on the single position. The original wooden grips are present on the handle and they have a nice used look. This is a great looking and also interesting pistol for your collection.
