Buckles
Non-Dug Memphis Style Confederate 2-Piece Sword Belt Buckle
Click on an image to enlarge

This is a fine looking original Confederate belt buckle. It is the version listed as Plate #040 in the revised edition of Confederate belt Buckles & Plates by Steve Mullinax. This pattern is known to collectors as the "Memphis" or "Leech & Ridgon" pattern of two piece sword belt buckle. Most of this pattern are believed to have been manufactured by the Memphis Novelty Works Company owned by Thomas Leech & Rigdon. The bold C.S. letters on the buckle tongue can be seen from across the room. These Memphis style buckles have the distinctive lettering. This one has a flaw int he sand mold that miscast the letter "S". This one is in fine non-excavated condition and has no restoration of any kind. This one is beautiful from all angles.
