This is a tough to find original Civil War $3 bill from the
State of Florida. This is pattern that was issued in 1861. In the center of the
note it has the hand written date of issue of October 10
th 1861. It has the
printed place of issuance of Tallahassee.
These notes were printed in Richmond, Virginia by Boyer & Ludwig and it is
so marked along the bottom edge. It is correctly hand signed and number in old
ink. On the right hand side of the note it has the image of the Goddess Tellus
seated holding a spear and a small globe. On the left hand side it has the
portrait of President George Washington. The back of the paper is blank just as
it should be. A blank back such as this is known as the note being
"Uniface". This note is in circulated condition and displays well. It comes in an
acid free holder for preservation and display. The note measures 6-5/8ths
inches by 2-7/8ths inches in overall size. These Florida Notes in any condition are
tough to find and this one is a nice looking one.
