Group of 9 Excavated Cuff Size Civil War Eagle Infantry Officer Uniform Buttons
Click on an image to enlarge

This is a great group of 9 original cuff size eagle buttons. These have been excavated from campsites throughout the South. These are the style you see on the coats of the men that actually fought the war. They would have adorned the cuffs or collars of the coats of the regular enlisted men of the Civil War. Each button has the classic eagle design on the front with the shield in the eagle's chest. In one talon she holds the arrows of war and in the other the olive branch of peace. In the center of the shield they have the "I" which denotes the button being worn by an infantry officer instead of an enlisted man who had the plain shield. All of these buttons also have the original backs and 8 of the buttons have the shanks intact on the reverse. They have various Civil War era date backmarks. The price quoted is for the exact 9 excavated cuff size eagle buttons you see pictured.
