Rare Machinist Image Confederate $5 Made in October 1861 T-32

This is a very tough to find Confederate note. It is an authentic 1861 dated Confederate States of America $5.00 note. This one was printed by the Leggett, Keatinge & Ball Company in Richmond, Virginia. They printed these notes in October of 1861 and only 20,333 of them were issued. It has the image of young boy on the lower left-hand side. The scene on the right shows the image of a Machinist with a hammer by the "5" denomination. This image was taken from an altered plate for making currency from the Mechanics Savings Bank of Savannah, Georgia. The note is printed using black ink with a pale orange-red overprint to help prevent counterfeiting. In the center of the note it has the hammered "X" slices. This is the mark that lets us know that the note was taken out of circulation by the Confederate Government. This process was known as cut-cancellation. This means that you know that this note was actually in circulation during the Civil War. This is the version listed as T-32 in Criswell's Confederate Currency book. It is correctly hand signed and dated. The note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
