7th Artillery Identified 1839 Dated Mounted Artillery Officer's Saber

Here is a cool sword that definitely needs some more research. This one is a beautiful mounted artillery officer's saber. It has an overall length of 38-1/2 inches with the blade making up 32-5/8ths of those inches. The blade has a single wide fuller with etching over the first 1/3 of the blade. The etching includes foliate, military & patriotic motifs featuring a federal shield & spray of arms. The sword is adorned with a gilded brass hilt with a large star on each langet. The bow of the guard is made with a twist pattern that gives it a nice little extra touch. It has the unadorned backstrap with bird’s head pommel. The handle of the sword has the original detail carved bone grip with a pleasing tan color. It is accompanied by the original brass scabbard with oak leaf engraving featuring an American eagle atop a federal shield between the mounts. What makes it extra special is that there are 2 bands on the scabbard that read "Lt. Col. Jacob Brown" & "7th Artillery 1839". I did a very brief search and didn't see anything about this soldier so he must be a militia soldier that will take some extra work to track him down. This is a beautiful sword from 1839!
