Click on an image to enlarge
This is a piece that you seldom see offered for sale these days. It is an original handspike for the rare Gatlin gun from the late 1800's. This implement was used to turn and position the Gatlin gun. There are a couple of images that show where the piece was designed to hang under the carriage for the Gatlin gun. It 43-1/2 inches in length. The wood is in fine condition with ancient wear. It still has the ring intact on the side as well as the small iron stud attached to the side. The wood has several ancient age cracks that give it character. This is a fantastic piece of Civil War artillery history for the price of a U.S. belt and buckle costs these days!
