1848 Dated United States "Peace" Flask by Batty With Classic Military Designs

What a beautiful U.S. patriotic powder flask. This is one of my favorite designs of the military powder flask. On the sides it has the "US" on the shield with the draped flags behind along with the trumpet, cannon swords and muskets. Above that it has the shaking hands design which has always been associated as a sign of "Peace". That is where the flask gets its name of the peace flask. Above the hands it has the beautiful large eagle. On the side of the flask it has both of the strap rings. You can tell by the thick patina in the light bumps and bruises from service that this one was actually used by the soldier for quite a while. The original spout is intact and the spring still has spring. It also has the maker's mark of "BATTY" and the production date of "1848" stamped on the top near the spout. This one has a very pleasing look and will make a superb addition to your collection.
