Click on an image to enlarge
This is a nice excavated piece that doesn't cost a fortune. It is an original Civil War era rosette for leather ornamentation. This is the version that has the brass face with the clear "' US" lettering with a maroon and tan patina. The back of the piece was lead filled and it still retains most of the original lead. You can see the traces of where the iron attachment loops would have been at one time. This is a nice excavated Civil War era U.S. rosette. The verbal history that accompanied the piece is that it was recovered in the area of Nashville, Tennessee years ago on private property. It is a nice piece of Civil War history!
