VERY COOL! This sword has a cool look and a stylish design. This sword measures 38 inches in overall size with a 32 inch blade. The blade is designed with the full-length blade that has a single wide fuller with a single narrow fuller near the spine. The blade is etched over half its length with various military, patriotic & foliate motifs. On the front side, it has the Union eagle with the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" etching. On the back side of the blade, it has the script letter "US" in the center of the etching. The base of the back side of the blade, it has the King's Head trade mark stamping that lets us know that the blade was made by Gebruder Weyersberg in Solingen, Germany. There is an etched mark near the ricasso on the front side of the blade that reads "WH HORSTMANN & SONS PHILADELPHIA". It has a very fine gilded brass hilt with heavily embellished pierced Foot Officer’s style guard. These foot officer's swords are designed with the floral pattern in the brass. The sword grip pommel is heavily sculpted with floral & foliate motifs and definitely stands out. On the sword handle itself it is made with a solid silver grip with multi twist brass wire wrap. It is accompanied by the original plum brown finished iron scabbard with gilded brass classical mounts showing floral pattern center on the top & middle mount with the brass drag. The scabbard shows light overall wear with a pleasing look. This is a classy looking sword from the famous Horstmann Company of Philadelphia.
