Ohio Cheese! 1862 Dated Aurora, Ohio 25 Cent Note From Harmon & Root

Here is a neat Civil War Note! This one is from Aurora, Ohio. It was from the firm of C. & C.R. Harmon & Root for the amount of 25 cents. It has the printed date of 1862 in the lower left hand corner. Both families were prominent parts of the Aurora community with the Harmons operating a large cheese business in the 1850s. The exact nature of this partnership remains unknown. This note features a stag deer on the left and is printed in a purple tone ink. This one is an excellent condition unissued note. These are referred to by collectors as a "remainder". The note measures 3-3/4ths inches by 2-1/8th inches. It comes in an acid-free holder for display and preservation.
