This is a beautiful authentic Civil War Enfield pattern rifle. This is the tougher to find 2-band style short rifle that was carried by soldiers throughout the Civil War. It is known as the Pattern 1856 2 band rifle. This one was made in 1860 and is so marked on the lockplate of the musket. The rest of the gun is unmarked and is made without barrel size markings. The barrel is full-length at 33 inches with the lug on the side of the right hand side. These 2-band rifles utilized a saber style bayonet instead of the socket bayonet that their 3-band cousins used. It has the clear inspector proof marks at the breech. It has original rifling and is in .577 caliber. The rifling in the barrel is still clear all the way down. It has the original rear and front sights present as well. The rear sight is the folding 1100-yard style sight. The stock has a nice medium tone all over with a nice used but not abused look. The gun still has the sling swivels on the underside of the gun with the old leather shoulder sling. The ramrod in the channel underneath the barrel is a full-length original. This version of Enfield has the iron buttplate, triggerguard and nose cap and the brass has a gorgeous color all over. This is a wonderful looking Enfield pattern rifle with the 1860 Tower Arsenal mark.
