This is an original Civil War .44 caliber Colt revolver. It has had some restorations and now displays quite well. This is the classic Civil War .44 Colt that is also known as the Army model 1860 of Colt. It has serial numbers of 11,866 on all of the parts including the barrel wedge. These numbers let us know it would have been manufactured in 1861. This is the earlier production that has the 4-screw style frame and is also cut on the frame to accept the shoulderstock. Across the top of the barrel you can still see the Colt Maker's mark and New York City location. These guns were manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut with the sales office being located in New York City. The action works on the positions. The metal of the gun has a pleasing dark tone all over with the look of a gun that has been in service. You can still the "COLTS PATENT" marking on the side of the frame. You can see some of the cylinder scene that depicts the naval battle between the Texas Navy and the Mexican Navy. It has the 1-piece walnut grip intact on the handle of the gun that a pleasing look as you can see. This is a good looking and tough to find four screw framed Colt army model revolver from the Civil War.
