Very Fine .36 Caliber Colt "BELT MODEL" Iron Bullet Mold

This is a very fine original iron bullet model for the .36 caliber Civil War Colt patent revolver. This is the style that makes one round ball and one conical bullet as well. The original sprue cutter and screw are present and you can still clearly see the "COLTS PATENT" mark on the top of the sprue cutter. On the side of the mold it has the ".36 B" stamp still visible. This marking probably denotes it being used with either the Model 1851 or the Model 1861 Navy revolver. Both of these models were in the .36 caliber size. On page 131 of the fine book by Robin Rapley entitled the history and identification of Colt Accoutrement 1834 - 1911 he shows this particular marking on the side of the mold. He explains how the "36B" stands for the belt model which is the way the Colt Company referred to their larger size revolvers such as their famous Navy model revolver. The mold opens and closes and would probably cast a bullet still today. What a cool addition to display beside of your gun.
